Dit it for me

I was thirsty when you poured me a drink / You shared a thought when I couldn’t think / I was a stranger when you didn’t forget / You held my hand when I was angry op sad… and the king said:

Refrein: Whatever you did for the weakest / whatever you did for your brother in pain / for the cripled and the blind, the homeless and the thirsty / for the hungry and the sick, whatever you did… you did it for me

I was stonecold when you gave me your coat / almost drowning when you sent me your boat / I was hungry when you offered me bread/ you gave me life when my living was dead… and the king said:

Refrein

Bridge: I was looking for the answers when you shone your light / I was struggling for justice, when you shared your fight / I tried to get stronger when you showed me your might…

And the king said:

Refrein

Dit kaartje kreeg ik ooit in de Dolomieten van een non. Weken later kwam ik het weer tegen, toen het uit mijn portemonnee viel. De bekende tekst, raakte me en werd de aanleiding voor ‘Did it for me’. Eelke Alkema – 2022
